Hiking

Hiking enthusiasts benefit from our central location in the state.  We are minutes from some of the best hiking locations in the northeast.  Just north of us is Mars Hill Mountain.  In the winter it is home to affordable and accessible skiing, but in the summer you have an opportunity for a quick hike with fantastic views of the Southern Aroostook region.  Not to mention the fascinating landscape of wind turbines now functioning on the mountain.

Also, welcome to Houlton’s  Meduxnekeag River Trail.  It is 3 miles long (round trip) most of which is in forest.  Access is either from Riverside Park near North Street bridge or from a small parking lot on Lincoln Street.  Riverfront Trail

Minutes to our north is the Aroostook State Park, Maine’s 1st state park and home to multiple activities including hiking, fishing, boating and camping.  The image below was taken from the South Peak looking north.
